(Asuncion).- The president of the National Gaming Commission (Conajzar), Carlos Augusto Liseras, communicated that, by common agreement, the company Vimerica S.A. and the Commission decided to rescind the connection contract for the construction of a hotel-casino in the city of Mariano Roque Alonso, on the border with Limpio.

Conajzar rescinds casino licence due to lack of permits to start construction work

During a conversation with Universo 970 AM, Carlos Liseras explained that this decision was taken because the company did not receive the permits and licenses required for the work, by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (Mades), Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the municipalities of the cities mentioned above.

In this regard, he affirmed that the company is not at fault with the State, because the decision between the parties was carried out in accordance with the provisions of resolution 72/23, which determines the conditions and bases of the contract. "They had many inconveniences of public knowledge to get licenses from Mades, permits from MOPC and the municipalities," he said.

He recalled that this concession was granted in 2007, the costs of the work are around G. 825 billion and that to date, the company has already spent USD 5 million without the initial shovelful. As time went by, he commented that they also had problems with the land due to the invasion of fishermen.

"They were given 36 months to finish the works, only when they get the permits. They are not in default, but taking into account that they are in conditions, they expressed the termination of the contract by mutual agreement, under points 53 and 54 of the contract," he said. "The concession contract is terminated in advance with the respective addendum. It was by mutual agreement of the parties, for reasons of unforeseeable circumstances and force majeure," he said.
